We already wrote about Andrea, trying to reveal the secret of the success of Oberstdorf’s “golden ladies”. But this figure skater from Germany deserves to again, this time a little more, to tell us about her life on ice. After all, she is also the «golden» representative of pair skating with Theo Fisher. This article is entirely about them.

What role has figure skating in your life?

Figure Skating is my passion and became a big part of my life since 44 years.

What do you like more: single / pair skating?

There is no preference. Pair skating is a lot of fun and kind of a team event for us while in single free skate both of us can go to our personal limits.

How did you met Theo and who offered to skate in pair?

We first met 2004 at an adult figure skating event in cologne. We did a lot pratice together as single skaters. Theo came up with the idea to give it a try in pairs.

How many years have you been skating with Theo and how many years you engaged in pair skating?

Since 6 years. Both of us didn‘t do any pair skating before.

What gives you more pleasure — the training process / competition?

Mainly the training while a good competition is always our goal.

Tell about the team that helps you prepare for competitions.

Sorry, is just Theo and me with the support of our families. In our practice group we also support each other. Also a big thank you to Frank, Evelyn and Daniel from the coach team Oberstdorf.

Do you train with / without a coach?

Practice at our home rink is without a coach; once a year we go to Oberstdorf for approx. 4 days coaching.

Who in your pair is the leader?

None of us.

How are duties divided in your pair? Who is responsible for the music, costumes, choice of starts, coach, ideas and programming?

There is no preference. Pair skating is a lot of fun and kind of a team event for us while in single free skate both of us can go to our personal limits.

What difficulties did your pair have to overcome?

The main issue is getting family, job and figure skating under one umbrella.

How do your families feel about your figure skating hobby?

Lonesome but proud. It would not work without the support of our families!

This year in Oberstdorf you won 4 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medals for two. How do you divide your training time between individual and pair skating?

We plan from week to week, depending on our working schedule.
We always have a focus on new programs. We try to have 50 % of our practice for pair skating.

Pair figure skating is a dangerous sport. Are there elements that you were afraid of or are you still afraid to do? How do you overcome your fear?

There is no fear, we trust in each other.

What motivates you? Do you have a goal that you would like to achieve?

With pair skating I’m able to learn new things. In single skating I can only try to keep the status quo. The goal is to perform a clean program during competition.

What feelings do you have when performance individually and what feelings you have while skating in pair?

It is always an advantage when your are not alone on the ice during competition. It‘s easier. Win together — lose together.

What is your pair favorite element?

Thrown flip.

What is the most difficult element for your pair?

The pair spin, because normally we rotate in different directions.

Andrea and Theo, we wish you success and undying interest in figure skating and skating in pairs!
